Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Turkish Embassy in Jakarta launched the Wisdom of Thread solo art exhibition to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Indonesia."This event is important because this year marks the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic relations with Indonesia," said Resat Ugur Karacan, Charge d'Affaires Counsellor of the Turkish Embassy in Jakarta, during the exhibition here on Friday.

The week-long exhibition features paintings by Turkish artist Ibrahim Eraslan, created using acrylic techniques on carpets and blending traditional and modern artistic approaches.

Karacan said the event is a meaningful part of the anniversary celebration and expressed hope that relations between the two countries would continue to grow in politics, economics, and culture.

"This is an excellent example of our growing and expanding cultural relations. We want to coordinate and cooperate more with Indonesia in this area. We believe our cultures are actually very close," Karacan said.

“Although the distance between our countries is great, our cultures are historically and presently connected. Therefore, we want to strengthen these ties in the future,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Turkish artist Ibrahim Eraslan said that the paintings presented in the exhibition showed Turkish women in the past who often experienced suffering and sadness.

"You can see all those experiences, that sadness, and you can feel it from their faces," Eraslan said.

Through his works, Eraslan seeks to depict both the suffering and the resilience of these struggling women.

“I wanted to show that their struggles and sadness left their faces deeply tired. So, I beg you—do not make life more difficult for our mothers. All these images come from my own experience, as my mother also faced much sadness in her life,” he said.

Ultimately, Eraslan expressed hope that women in the future can live happier lives.
