Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that food supplies in the capital are secure until October 2025 and will not be affected by recent demonstrations.

He made the statement in response to circulating rumors of a food shortage in Jakarta.

“Yesterday, there were rumors that food would be a problem. In Jakarta, food is sufficient, even until the end of October. Food supplies in Jakarta are very secure,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Monday.

The assurance on food availability was one of the outcomes of a Jakarta Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) meeting held at City Hall, attended by Jakarta DPRD Speaker Khoirudin, Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, and Jayakarta Military Commander Major General Deddy Suryadi.

Pramono also announced that 2,829 schools are currently implementing distance learning, 2,439 schools are holding offline classes, and 346 schools are using hybrid models.

"Why is this effort being undertaken? After all, this is to ensure the educational process in Jakarta remains undisturbed," he said.

He further noted that the demonstrations in Jakarta over the past few days have left 716 people injured.

“This figure does not include police personnel. The Jakarta provincial government is covering all costs for more than 700 victims,” he said.

Victims were treated in hospitals across five areas of Jakarta, including Hermina Kemayoran Hospital, Kramat 128 Hospital, Mintohardjo Naval Hospital, Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, National Police Hospital, Koja Regional Hospital, Budhi Asih Regional Hospital, Pelni Hospital, and Pertamina Central Hospital, as well as several community health centers nearby.
