Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Herliani Tanoesoedibjo reviewed the readiness of Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park in Bali for welcoming delegates attending the 2022 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR).
The park has been selected as the venue for a field trip for the delegates. "I hope the delegates will be able to enjoy the GWK area, enjoy the cultural performance that will be presented by Balinese artists," the deputy minister said in a statement here on Friday.

The ministry will promote GWK as one of the tourist destinations that is preserving local culture and boosting the people's economy through various cultural activities, she added.
Tanoesoedibjo also expressed her admiration for one of the icons at the GWK Cultural Park, namely the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. "The GWK Bali statue was created as a symbol of saving the environment and the world. It fits perfectly with the tourism concept that embodies strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive global growth," she remarked.
The deputy minister said that the GWK Cultural Park is also one of the venues that will be used to host a dinner for delegates attending the G20 Summit in November 2022.
"Currently, the GWK has also been prepared to welcome delegates of the G20 Summit. Arrangements at the GWK continue to be carried out to support the development of tourism destinations of international standards and cultural insights in Bali," she explained.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a cultural park spread over an area of 240 hectares. The GWK statue depicts the figure of one of the gods who is highly respected by the Hindu community in Bali, namely Lord Vishnu, who is shown riding his mount, the Garuda bird.
As Lord Vishnu is considered the preserver of the universe, the GWK statue symbolizes saving the environment and the world. Meanwhile, the figure of the Garuda is representative of freedom and devotion.
