Jakarta (ANTARA) - President-elect Prabowo Subianto expressed hope that his planned meeting with the fifth President of Indonesia and Chairperson of PDI-P Party, Megawati Soekarnoputri, would take place before his inauguration on October 20, 2024.
"Hopefully, (the meeting takes place) before the inauguration," Prabowo remarked after attending the inauguration of legislators serving in the House of Representatives (DPR) and senators in the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the parliament complex here on Tuesday.
Prabowo also said amen to his planned meeting with Megawati.
"Insya Allah, Insya Allah (God willing)," he remarked.
"Prabowo had to wait two years to be able to meet Megawati," Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Prabowo's Gerindra Party, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, stated on the same occasion.
Earlier, on Sept 26, Chair of PDI-P Party's Central Board, Puan Maharani, stated that Megawati would meet with Prabowo at an "interesting place."
"(However), place is just a place, for sure, (as) the most important thing is the meeting," she remarked at the parliament complex.
The House of Representatives (DPR) speaker noted that the meeting between the two leaders would take place at the right time, as they were still occupied with their busy schedules. However, she confirmed that both were intent on a meeting.

Meanwhile, political communication analyst, Hendri Satrio, stated that the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati could bring hope for Indonesia.
"The meeting between Megawati and Prabowo, if (it) happens, is extraordinary. As the winner of the Presidential Election and the Legislative Election (respectively), the two can bring improvement and goodness to Indonesia," Satrio had remarked on Sept 16.
