Jayapura (ANTARA) - Papua province is still preparing facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

"We are certain that the implementation will begin this week, and we will check the readiness in each city and district first," Papua Governor Ramses Limbong stated on Monday.

He said that the implementation of MBG will not be easy and will require thorough preparation to ensure the program runs smoothly and on target."We have carried out the trial; it remains to be fully implemented, though not all areas may be covered this week. Jayapura district and Jayapura city will be prioritized first," Limbong said.

He noted that Papua is ready, but several things still need to be checked to ensure compliance with the technical instructions issued by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

Another issue is related to the central budget for the program, he added.

"Currently, Papua province's budget is experiencing a deficit, so further discussion is needed between the central government and regional authorities to ensure the implementation is on target," he explained.

He said that the location of the public kitchens also needs to be coordinated, including the service model for schools.

"For example, if the public kitchen is located in Jayapura city, how will delivery be managed to areas more than six kilometers away? Will another kitchen be set up, or not? These details will be discussed," he added.
