Jakarta (ANTARA) - The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VII is committed to promoting cross-ministry synergy to enhance support for and empower women, including women who head households.This was stated by the commission's deputy chairperson, Chusnunia Chalim, in a statement on Sunday.
"Women are a vital pillar of society. We must ensure they have access to opportunities to improve their quality of life, both economically and socially," she said.
Chalim highlighted that many women serve as their family's backbone, both as heads of households and as micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) owners.
She urged the government to expand assistance and training programs for these women.
"MSMEs led by women are the driving force of local economies. We need to ensure they have access to financing, skills training, and technology to compete and succeed," she said.
Chalim also called on the government to prioritize women-friendly policies, particularly in economic empowerment.

"This Mother's Day is an opportunity to reflect on the vital role of women in development. The government must take concrete steps to ensure Indonesian women become empowered and independent individuals," she said.

She proposed cross-sectoral dialogue among the government, businesses, and civil organizations to create policies that are inclusive and responsive to the needs of women, particularly those supporting their families.
Chalim expressed hope that all women in Indonesia will achieve prosperity and take pride in their significant role in nation-building.
