Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan stated that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) plays an important role in supporting food security efforts across various regions in the country.Zulkifli Hasan, popularly known as Zulhas, emphasized that the military's contribution extends beyond national defense, noting its involvement in humanitarian efforts and national resilience - particularly in maintaining food security at the regional level.
"Many TNI soldiers are on the ground assisting farmers, safeguarding food distribution, and ensuring the logistics chain remains secure in remote areas. This is clear proof that the TNI and the people are an inseparable unity," he said in a press statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
Zulkifli attended the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta, alongside President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Indonesia's 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The event was also attended by leaders of state institutions, the TNI Commander, the National Police Chief, and several ministers and deputy ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet.

In a spirit of national pride, Zulhas expressed deep appreciation to all TNI personnel for their dedication, courage, and sacrifices in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and security.
"Happy 80th anniversary to the Indonesian National Armed Forces. The TNI is not only a guardian of our borders, but also a symbol of hope for the people. Throughout the years, the TNI has always been present - resilient, disciplined, and faithfully devoted to the Red and White," he said, referring to Indonesia's national flag.

Speaking before more than 100,000 TNI personnel gathered at Monas Field, President Prabowo Subianto also extended his congratulations to the armed forces and reaffirmed their role as the backbone of Indonesia’s defense.
Amid today’s uncertain global geopolitical landscape - including ongoing wars and armed conflicts - President Prabowo reminded the military of its vital duty as the fortress of the Republic of Indonesia.
