Jakarta (ANTARA) - The flood and landslide handling operations in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), South Sumatra, has entered the recovery phase, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
Abdul Muhari, BNPB's Head of Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, said in a statement on Saturday that floodwaters have receded from most areas in seven flooded sub-districts since Friday evening.
Crews are working to clear away debris left by the floods in Ulu Ogan neighborhoods, the sub-district most affected by the May 25 flash floods. Data from the BNPB shows that in the sub-district, one house was washed away, 137 homes were damaged, 13 road points were buried by landslides, and hundreds of residents were displaced.
Muhari said that the current recovery phase will also focus on repairing a number of bridge infrastructures and restoring road access that was cut off in the flood.

A joint team of personnel from the local Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the public work service, the military, and the police has deployed a number of additional truck cars and heavy equipment excavators so that the recovery phase operation can be completed within seven days or earlier.
