Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is currently investigating allegations of corruption in the rice subsidy allocation program, head of the office’s legal information center, Anang Supriatna, confirmed here on Monday.“Our examination is more so on subsidy distribution, since state funding is used here. We just want to make sure whether the subsidies are allocated properly first,” he said.
On Monday, his administration summoned representatives from six companies—PT Wilmar Padi Indonesia, PT Food Station, PT Belitang Panen Raya, PT Unifood Candi Indonesia, PT Subur Jaya Indotama, and PT Sentosa Utama Lestari (Japfa Group).
However, representatives of only two of the six companies showed up.

The representative for PT Belitang Panen Raya failed to appear, Supriatna added. The office has sought statements from the companies to verify the information it has received about corruption in the subsidized rice scheme. It will also examine other parties alleged to be involved in the case.

He further said he expects the effort to prevent state funding from being misused.
He added that the measure is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to take action against people found falsely rebranding rice.
