Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - Around 20,000 people are expected to attend the 2023 Krakatau Festival, according to the Lampung Tourism and Creative Economy Office. "The Krakatau Festival, also known as K-Festival this year, will transition from an official event to a people's festival," said Bobby Irawan, the head of the office, on Tuesday.
He mentioned that this year's festival aims to bring the community closer together. "Not only officials, but the community will also be involved in this year's festival. From morning to afternoon, the festival expects a participation of at least 10,000 to 20,000 people, including parade participants and the local community," he explained.
The festival is anticipated to attract more tourists to visit Lampung. "With 20,000 people participating, the purpose of this festival is to increase tourism visits to Lampung, and hopefully, it will help more people become acquainted with the tourist destinations through the K-Festival," he added.
The Krakatau Festival is scheduled to take place on July 7-8, 2023, and will highlight Lampung's cultural masks. The event will also include competitions and a carnival. Additionally, there will be a cooking session featuring the traditional engkak cake, conducted by local small businesses.
The K-Festival will showcase a video-making competition with the theme "Mount Krakatau" as the festival's icon. "The highlight of the festival is not an entertainment show but a cultural mask carnival involving the community. This activity aims to enhance Lampung's tourism and increase its popularity among a wider audience," added Irawan.
