West Lombok, (Antara NTB) - Four cruise ships each with 2000 tourists on board, are to visit Lombok, a resort island, jolted by volcanic eruption this month.

The foreign tourists would visit various tourist objects in the Bali`s neighboring island.

Among the tourist objects is the the fine arts market of Sesela in West Lombok, chairman of the Sesela fine arts market Fatahul Anwar said here on Monday.

Two of the cruisers already arrived in Lombok respectively on Nov. 2 and 5, Fatahul Anwar said.

The visit to West Lombok is part of the agenda of the four cruisers prepared by a businessman who coordinate the tour.

The tourist boats arrived at the port of Lembar in West Lombok on Nov 2 came from Singapore and the one arrive on Nov. 5 came from Australia.

The two cruisers carry tourists from various countries including New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.

They will make a tour of Lombok in groups using tourist buses to enjoy the natural beauty of the island.

Fatahul said the tourists spent Rp70 million in two visits to the fine arts market.

Two other cruisers are expected to arrive at the port of Lembar, on Nov. 20 and 28.

"Our sales of fine arts to passengers of tourist boats total around Rp2.5 billion every year, not including sales on orders to be sent later," Fatahul said.

Meanwhile, part of Lombok is still blanketed by volcanic ashes spewed by Mount Baru Jari, disrupting flight schedule.

Pujiono, the general manager of PT Angkasa Pura I said the state-owned airport operator suffered a loss of Rp3 billion as the airport could not operate normally. (*)
