Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has prepared 2,794 posts to secure people's movement during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays."The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and stakeholders will collaborate, and we have prepared 2,794 posts," Polri chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said here on Monday.
He informed that the posts comprise 1,852 security posts, 735 service posts, and 207 integrated posts. They will secure 61,452 locations, including churches, malls, terminals, stations, ports, airports, tourist attractions, and New Year celebration venues, he added.
Prabowo noted that the peak of the Christmas and New Year homecoming exodus is predicted around December 21, 2024, and the second peak is forecast on December 28.
As many as 110 million people are expected to travel during the holiday period. Therefore, he said, thousands of posts have been prepared to ensure that people's movement, whether for worship or vacation, runs smoothly.

On the same occasion, TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto affirmed that TNI has readied support personnel and land transportation such as trucks and air transportation in the form of Boeing 737 aircraft, Hercules aircraft, and helicopters.
Meanwhile, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi informed that his ministry will open homecoming posts from December 18 to January 5, 2025. He also reminded the public to pay attention to weather conditions in December when planning their travel.

"We will always inform the public through media information channels so that they can receive information earlier and can plan their travel well," he said.
On Monday, President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, to discuss preparations for the Christmas and New Year holidays. While issuing directions, the President emphasized the importance of creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere so that the public can celebrate the holidays with joy.
